The Patrol Division is the backbone of the police department. Patrol is the largest division within the police department and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The city of Peabody is divided into several geographical areas where each patrol officer has a primary responsibility to provide uniformed law enforcement service, procure crime reduction and enhance quality of life in Peabody. Each watch also consists of Patrol Sergeants who patrol the city, supervise and provide assistance to the patrol officers by responding to calls as needed.
All full time Officers have successfully completed a six month Massachusetts Police Training Council academy. Peabody Officers attend an academy located in either Lowell, Quincy, Weymouth or North Reading. Various aspects of Law Enforcement are covered in detail during the time spent as the academy.
